product review || Almay smart shade loose finishing powder in medium

Hey guys!

Today, I thought I'd do something new in my blog. Considering that exams are nearly over, I have more time doing other things such as shopping and going out with some friends. Today, I decided to go shopping. As a uni student with 2 jobs and other commitments, it is sometimes hard to balance stuff t the point where I am stressed out. Usually, I release my stress by spending time with my boyfriend or by doing something fun from out of my comfort zone. Trust me, when I do shop, I go crazy and I dont think about the price sometimes which for me, is a bad habit.

Anyways, heres one of the product that I purchased today at farmers.
Im pretty happy with what I purchase as I do believe that I need to invest on these products.
Here is the Almay smart shade loose finishing powder in medium and before I bought this product, I was trying different finishing powder from different brands.

Almay is a brand of cosmetics made for people with sensitive skin and Im pretty happy with that because I know I have sensitive skin and I have tried a lot of products which aren't good for my skin, hence I stop using them. The finishing powder helps provide flawless finish and improves imperfection. It is also non-comedogenic which means that the product is formulated so it does not blocked pores. It comes in 3 shades, light, light/medium and medium. I purchased medium as light/medium does not quite match my skin tone.

The difference between a loose powder and press powder is that loose powder gives more lighter application, therefore it is used for finishing the foundation and it also helps reduce shine. It also helps mattify the skin without it looking too dry. Although, press powder is more on the convenience where you can take it anywhere without spilling it all over your make up bag. It is more compact than the loose powder.

What I love about this product is that its compact and the packaging is very simple. Also, it came with a powder sponge though I would probably use one of my powder brushes to apply this on my face. Also, the powder itself blends on my skin really well and it doesnt leave any glitters or anything sparkling. The finish is really smooth and silky, also light weight on skin which I prefer.

I purchase this from Farmers (New Zealand) and im not quite sure if its available anywhere else. It cost me $30.95 which is not bad at all considering the the packaging has a reasonable size. Also, in Farmers, if you buy any Almay product worth over $29, you receive a free beach bag which is perfect because summer is just around the corner. Offer is only available from 7th November until the 3rd of December 2014. The beach bag also came with $15 off Almay products from Farmers which is very convenient.

Thats all for now

P.S: I am not affiliated or sponsored with any of the products/brands that I mention in this blog!

Love lots,

Everyday go-to make up

Hello readers!

I have been getting a lot of comments about my make up around uni and just in general and I do post photos of me with make up on but sometimes I go out to places without make up. I have nothing against people wearing make up and such but for me, in my own opinion, make up doesn't have to be an everyday thing. I understand why some people have to put it on everyday but for me, I don't really go out with make up on everyday. Reasons are because when I do go to uni and I have to go to the gym afterwards, I don't put make up on because if I'm going to workout, I don't really need to put any on if I'm going to sweat anyways. But when I do go to the gym but have to go to uni beforehand, I just apply BB cream just to even out my skin tone. I use Garnier BB Cream in medium shade. Also, the another reason why I don't put make up on everyday is because I don't need to. If I'm only gonna spend a good 5 hours out of my house then why bother? BB cream is my best solution though just so I dont feel like my face is too naked and just incase I see people that I know, atleast I look decent.

I'm not going to be all cliche and stuff but I do love putting make up on. Just not everyday. And when I do put make up on, I am very specific about how I apply it. I'm not a make up guru nor a professional make up artist so these are just my everyday make up items that I need when I do put make up on.

  1. Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Black (The Warehouse $14.99)
  2. Maybelline New York The Turbo Volume Express (It was a gift ^^)
  3. Revlon Nearly Naked Warm Beige (Farmers $33.95)
  4. Maybelline FIT me! shine-free foundation 115 & 330 (The Warehouse $22.99 each)
  5. ItsJudyTime Palette ( BH cosmetics website $9.99 USD http://www.bhcosmetics.com/judy)
  6. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (Hand me down yay ^^)
  7. MAC eye liner gel (Another hand me down)
  8. MAC Media (MAC store $40)
If you're wondering why I have two FIT me foundations in two different shades, its because I use it for contouring. Its actually pretty good and the foundation itself is easy to blend, I can use either a sponge, a brush or my finger. Either way, it works fine.

Best purchase that I've done so far. The wait was long but worth it. Its very affordable too. I'll do a swatch soon.

LATE UPDATE.
im so sorry readers I havent been updating. Ive been really really busy because of our school production rehearsals and internals and ive been studying a lot lately. I was gonna post this up 2 weeks ago when it arrived but I didnt get to do it. Most of my nights consist of rehearsals, work (for my dad) and studying. I even read now because part of my bucketlist is to read all of Nicholas Spark's books. Ive finished A walk to remember and it was amazing :3 Im currently reading The notebook now but I havent read much because I dont have enough time.
ANYWAYS!! The things that i bought from Boohoo arrived 2 weeks ago! I was so excited because those were the first items that i bought online.
Here goes nothing! :)

These photos are raw. Meaning I didnt edit them. I dont have time to edit them.
Big thanks to Boohoo.com I recommend the website if you're into good quality cheap clothing. And also, they are free shipping which made me a happy kid. Also, they said it will arrive within 10 working days. Mine came a little bit later than that but I think because it was the weekend of Queen's birthday which sort of delayed the whole thing by a little bit.

THATS ALL FOLKS.

Love lots,
Nina ♥

PS. Sorry for my messy room. These photos are taken on the day that they arrived.

Product review: Boohoo.com

Boohoo.com is basically a 24/7 online shopping for fashion, both for men and women.
I finally got a debit card which allows me to buy stuff online and for my first online shopping spree, I chose boohoo simply because their items are affordable and ive heard a lot of good feedbacks about them. Not only that, they are free shipping to where I am which is New Zealand.
I bought two items today (30/05/2013) a muscle tee that says "GEEK" and a printed leggings. Ive always wanted a printed leggings but I can never find one on a rack from where I usually buy my clothes. I wanted a skater skirt but they didnt have any of my size.
From what the delivery details said, it would take about 8 days for my stuff to come so im a bit excited to recieve a package from myself.
Honestly, boohoo has a lot of cool stuff. They even have a onesie! Its my first time online shopping and it better not disappoint me.
Ill post another blog when it comes and i will put another review for the item itself.

If you guys know any good online shop please do tell me. Tweet me, @ninasantosss i'd love to explore and review theses shops somehow. I do know about ASOS and Romwe but as for now, i'd stick with the cheap, hoping good quality, shops as i dont have a job yet.

See you guys soon.

Love Lots,
Nina. <3
